It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

mondayreadingIt’s Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It’s also a great chance to see what others are reading right now…who knows, you might discover that next “must read” book!

Last week was a very busy reading week for me. But let me tell you, it felt great to dive back into reading and get through so many books so quickly. While I’m still working on writing reviews for these books I’m also surging ahead ready to read even more. The books I finished last week, varied from bad, decent to really good, and it was that that made me enjoy them even more, the variety of stories and how well I enjoyed them.

Though some reviews are still to come on these books I’ll give a quick overview of what I thought. Anna Dressed In Blood really surprised me. I don’t generally like Young Adult books but this one I gobbled up and really enjoyed the story line as it progressed from beginning to end. Girl of Nightmares, the sequel to Anna Dressed In Blood, was also a really good book. While I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first, a fate that many sequels get, I still enjoyed reading it. Thrall: Twilight of The Aspects, well this book was fairly disappointing to me. It didn’t have a strong story like the other World of Warcraft books and because of this it was hard to get through and enjoy. Rancher’s Deadly Risk, a terrible romance novel but one that had an important subject mentioned throughout, which made me both love and hate this book. Big Shot, a fairly good intrigue story with a small taste of romance.

This coming week I’m hoping to keep up with my current pace of reading. I’m not sure all that I will end up reading, but the next book I plan to work on is The Defender by Lindsay McKenna. I really enjoyed the two previous books from this series, The Last Cowboy and The Wrangler, so I am hoping this one continues the trend of great western romance by this author. I’m also excited to hear that she has another book from the series coming out later this year.

Beyond this book I don’t have a plan for what will come next. I’m picking books based upon what I feel like reading so I may reach for another romance, or perhaps a fantasy or something else. Time will tell what I choose next but no matter what I look forward to what the week of reading holds for me.
