Movie Review: Zathura

One of the movies I have had on my to watch list for a while now was Space Jumanji…I mean, Zathura.

I don’t really know what to say about this one. I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it, but I’m glad I can finally mark it off my to-watch list.

Am I the only one that was glad that Kristen Steward spend most of the movie either sleeping or frozen? Because that was my favorite part of this movie.

There were aspects of it that I did like. The Zorgons were probably the best part of the scifi aspect of this movie. These strange heat seeking lizard aliens certainly made the movie, and the game, so much more interesting. Without them, I feel like I would have struggled more to finish this movie. Also the whole story surrounding the Astronaut was interesting, though I do feel like there were some unanswered questions about him.

Overall it was good, but I felt I would have enjoyed it if a) I was younger and b) if I had never seen Jumanji.

Fun fact: This was the first movie my son ever sat through from start to finish without moving or talking. He was completely enthralled by it and it was only when the credits started to roll that he snapped out of his daze. He was three years old at the time.

  1. Zaghura is the epitome of my childhood! I loved it when I was younger and didn’t think of Kristen Steward as this was before the Bella Expansion. And also Love how you called it “space Jumqnji” – great analysis!! Thanks for posting !!
