What I did Last Week

Read

I finally finished Cress! It only took a month but I finally got through it and man was it good. Reading the second half, I was kicking myself for not getting to it sooner. I’ll be posting a full review of this one soon.

Next I read Your Name: A Light Novel. This was really good, although admittedly not as good as the movie. I am not sure if I will post a review of this one or not.

Lastly, I read Happiness Like Water. This collection of short stories was so good, I read it all in one sitting. I’ll be posting a full review of this book soon.

Watched

Well I once again caught up on a few shows on TV and the PVR, including Deadliest Catch, River Monsters and The Last Alaskans. On the weekend the boy and I went to the city to go see Cars 3, which was really good. We also decided to watch Wonder Woman while we were there, and the boy loved it, and I enjoyed it more than when I saw it the first time.

Life

I didn’t do much last week. It rained every day so wasn’t able to do any gardening, sadly.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I haven’t quite figured out what I will be reading this week.

Watching

I don’t have any solid plans for this either.

Life

It’s supposed to rain all week again, but I’m really hoping that I can plant the garden this week. I’m already behind on getting things planted and with our short growing season I need to get it done real soon. The boy also has soccer finals this week. His team is current in first place and they just need to win two games to get the gold.

What I did Last Week

Read

First up I read Wishful Drinking. This was a very interesting read and gave a look into Carrie Fisher’s life. It’s got humor, shocking reveals and all around shows off Carrie in a light that many may not have seen. It was a little sad to read it knowing that she is gone, but I’m glad that I did. Because this is a biography, I will not be posting a review of it.

Then I read Shockaholic. This is Carrie Fisher’s second biography and I didn’t enjoy it as much as Wishful Drinking. A lot of it is similar to the first book and then there are some chapters that seem so random I didn’t feel like they added anything – like the Michael Jackson chapter. Still glad I read it even though it wasn’t a huge attention grabber. I will not be posting a review for this one either.

Finally I read Erased Volume 1. I had bought this book the previous week during my trip to the city and I’m so glad that I did. This was such an amazing book with a rich story line and great art. I cannot wait for the second volume to be out in a couple of weeks. I’ll be posting a full review of this one in the coming weeks.

Watched

While it doesn’t feel like I watched a lot last week, I actually did. I ended up clearing out several things from my PVR including episodes of Deadliest Catch, River Monsters, My 600lb Life and The Last Alaskans. On the weekend we had a Star Wars Rebels marathon, watching most of season 3 because we realized that we never watched the last couple of episodes and figured it would be best to start rewatching the whole season – we came close to watching all of it, but some bad weather prevented us from watching the last few episodes. For Family Movie Night we ended up watching Hero, which was good, but the boy didn’t enjoy it as much as we hoped he would.

Life

I got lots of work done in the garden last week. Hours spent weeding, fixing the border, fixing the fence, replacing one of the raised beds that had rotted. The only thing I didn’t get done was planting because the weather turned to rain and is obviously not ideal conditions for planting. Soccer kept up busy for a few evenings as well, and the boys team continues to win every game, but some of the other teams are definitely making them work for it.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I will finish Cress this week. I have been working on this one for too long, reading other books when I should be finishing this one, so I am not allowing myself to read anything else until it’s done. I really want to see how the second half of the book works out, so I have no reason to not read it.

Watching

We will be finishing up season three of Star Wars Rebels this week. I also want to try to finish up season four of The Golden Girls, I think I’m about half way or so, so it shouldnt’ be too much work to do that. It’s the boys pick for Family Movie Night this week, so I’m not sure what he is picking.

Life

It’s the second last week of soccer for the boy, so between his three regular games and a mini tournament, this will take up a decent amount of time. If the weather is good, and so far it doesn’t look like it will be, I will finally be planting the garden.

What I did Last Week

Read

I didn’t do any reading last week. Not even a single page.

Watched

I cleared out several things on the PVR over the week, mostly episodes of River Monsters, My 600lbs Life and Deadliest Catch. I also ended up watching Wonder Woman on the weekend and I like it – I also feel like I’m the only person who didn’t absolutely love it.

Life

It was kind of crazy last week. I feel like I didn’t do anything and yet I know I was pretty busy with things. I did a bunch of cleaning in the house, lots of baking and went to the city for a two day shopping/movie/day away from the house trip.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I’m not going to make any specific reading plans this week. I will simply read what I feel like, when/if I feel like it.

Watching

No real plans this week for this either.

Life

I have a bunch more baking to do this week, since I inevitably got several orders while I was gone on the weekend. The weather is supposed to be really good this week, so I’m hoping to get the garden not only prepped but planted as well.

What I did Last Week

Read

I had had some specific reading goals for this week, but those got completely ignored and instead I ended up reading all seven volumes of A Silent Voice. I found this series to be quite good, though there were some minor things I didn’t like about it. I’ll be posting a full series review in the coming weeks.

Watched

I finally got all caught up on the current season of Deadliest Catch. I also watched a couple episodes of The Golden Girls. We ended up having two Family Movie Nights this week as well, to make up for missing last week. So we watched A Dog’s Purpose and Clash of The Titans. We all enjoyed both of these movies a lot.

Life

What a week. The first half of it was shot due to family visiting, which also meant out long weekend was a complete write-off. The second half of the week went by way too fast. The boys soccer team is doing great still, and they won all three games last week. I did some baking on the weekend, which is something I have been really slacking with lately. I also got to finally do some work in the garden, it was simply weeding at this point, but it was nice to finally get my hands in the dirt and be one step closing to planting.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

For the third, or is it fourth, week in a row, I will be trying to finish Cress. I really want to finish this one, but things just keep getting in the way. Hopefully this week will be the week that I finally get to see what happens in the second half of the book.

Watching

My only solid plan this week is to watch the newest episode of Deadliest Catch and then go see Wonder Woman on the weekend. Outside of that, what I watch is kind of up in the air.

Life

I have some more weeding to do in the garden this week, weather permitting, but I should be able to finish it all in a day or two and then start really prepping the beds for planting. Soccer will continue to fill up our evenings this week, and while the boy is enjoying it, I’m looking forward to when it’s done (standing there watching the games for an hour gets pretty boring after a while). I’ll be heading up to the city on the weekend to do some shopping, have a day to myself and watch Wonder Woman. Other than that, I’m not sure what my week has in store for me.

What I did Last Week

Read

I had hoped to do a bunch of reading last week, but alas, it did not happen. I tried, I really did, but honestly every time I sat down to read my mother would want to talk. Reading with family visiting is an exercise in futility.

Watched

Didn’t really watch much last week, as the TV was being controlled by visiting family and they watch the stupidest shows ever.

Life

Soccer started this week for the boy, so that kept me busy in the evenings. Then the parents arrived for a visit and it’s been hectic and annoying every since. I’ve been playing as much World of Warcraft as I can, which keeps me too busy to truly visit with them, but that leaves the boy open to take advantage of visiting grandparents.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I likely won’t get to do any reading until Wednesday, as that’s when the family leaves, but after that, I will be focusing on finishing Cress. I really, really want to finish this one to see what happens in the second half.

Watching

No real plans this week. I will probably just watch whatever I feel like on any given day.

Life

I don’t have any solid plans for this week. I’m stuck with the family until Wednesday and then I’m free to do whatever I wish after that. Soccer will still occupy three nights of the week. I’m hoping to do some stuff in the garden soon, mostly just a bit of weeding and prepping the beds for planting, but a lot of that will depend on the weather.

What I did Last Week

Read

It wasn’t the best week for reading. I ended up adding two books to the dreaded DNF pile. I tried to finish Lord of The Flies, but I just couldn’t be bothered with the second half of the book, which is disappointing because that was the one book that stuck with me from high school. Then, I started The Devil Wears Prada, made it about half way and had no desire to keep going.

Watched

I didn’t watch much last week. I watched three or four episodes of The Golden Girls. As far as movies go, I ended up watching Ocean Waves, which was alright, but not as good as I was hoping for.

Life

I played far too much World of Warcraft last week. Honestly, beyond that I did pretty much nothing because almost all of my waking hours were spent playing the game.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I started Cress on the weekend. I am a little but further than quarter of the way through it and enjoying it quite a bit so far. My plan is to focus on finishing this one over this week.

Watching

I don’t have any plans to watch anything specific this week. I will likely watch more of The Golden Girls and hopefully get around to watching some things on the PVR so I can delete them.

Life

The boy starts soccer this week, so my week will be full of games. On top of that, hubby is away hiking, returning at the end of the week, just in time for my parents to arrive for a week long visit. So, I will be once again cleaning the house unnecessarily just to make the visitors happy and give the illusion of a perfect life and home. Of course, I will also be playing World of Warcraft.

What I did Last Week

Read

I got a couple books read last week. First up I read Moving Target: A Princess Leia Adventure. This was a quick and fairly enjoyable read, though one or two things slightly bothered me. I’ll be posting a full review of this book in the coming weeks.

Then I read Ghosts. This is a book I had wanted to read for a while now, and bought at my sons school’s book fair, since he wants to read it too. I really liked this one and I’m looking forward to hearing my sons opinion of it once he reads it.

Watched

I didn’t watch too much last week. I did get through a couple of episodes of the fourth season of The Golden Girls. Other than that, I can’t really remember anything that I watched. Once again we skipped Family Movie Night, because we weren’t home for it.

Life

Life was sort of boring. I played lots of World of Warcraft. On the weekend we went to the city to do some necessary shopping. Ironically enough, we forgot to buy the most important thing while we were there, which was soccer cleats for the boy.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I started Lord of The Flies last week and got about half way through it. I plan to finish reading it this week. I read this one many years ago in high school, but I’ve wanted to reread it since and this is my opportunity to do so. It’s okay so far, but I’m not feeling the strong attachment to the story that I felt reading it the first time, who knows if the second half will change that or not.

Watching

I have a number of shows stacking up on the PVR, so I plan to watch and delete several of those this week. I might watch some shows I want to watch that are on Netflix as well, if I have time.

Life

No real plans this week. I will probably lose many hours to playing World of Warcraft, but that’s okay, because I’m enjoying the game. I also need to start working things out for a yard sale we will be having in a few weeks, which will clear up lots of space in the house and allow me to finish the big purge I started at the beginning of the year – it’s been on hold the last two months since I have no place to store anything we want to get rid of at the moment.
