What I did Last Week

Read

I read volumes 6, 7, and 8 of Death Note. I’ve been enjoying this series quite a bit, though some volumes I haven’t liked as much as others. Overall, I have to say, I’m eager to see how this one will end.

Watched

I didn’t watch much last week, because I was just too busy. I did squeeze in a couple episodes of The Golden Girls season seven. I also watched Moana and then, for Family Movie Night we ended up watching The Karate Kid from 2010.

Life

It was a very, very busy week. Hubby returned to work Tuesday after being off for two weeks, and the boy started Science Camp that same day. So having the house to myself, I decided to give the entire house a major purge. In just four days, I managed to clean, reorganize and purge every room in the house. I got rid of lots of stuff, and what we ended up keeping is now nicely organized. We gained so much space in the house from this. On the weekend we decided to do the same thing with our shed and under the deck storage. We didn’t quite get this done, due to the weather turning on us, but enough of it got done that we are happy with it. Outside of that, I didn’t do much this week (because there wasn’t time for anything else), but I’m happy with what I accomplished.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I will be working on reading the last four volumes of Death Note. Things have gotten pretty interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing how all these new twists turn out and to see exactly how they plan to wrap this whole thing up.

I will also be finishing up Dark Horse. I started this one last week, but only got a bit past quarter of the way. So far, I’m really enjoying it and it seems like a really solid start to a new series.

Watching

No solid plans with this. I will probably try to finish up The Golden Girls, but I also have some shows on the PVR that I really want to get to as well. I’ll probably watch whatever I’m in the mood for.

Life

I’m going to take it easy this week. Sit back, relax, read and watch some TV. That’s all I plan on doing.

What I did Last Week

Read

I did a decent amount of reading last week. I read the first 5 volumes of Death Note. This is a strange yet addictive series. I’ll be posting a full series review of this one once I am done with it.

Then I read The Incredible Journey. I enjoyed this one quite a bit but was surprised by how different it was from the movie. I knew it would be different, but only the general essence of the book remained in the movie version.

Watched

The main this I watched this week was the entire sixth season of The Golden Girls. We ended up watching The Princess Bride. This is a movie I watched quite a few years ago and absolutely hated. Watching it again, I still didn’t enjoy it all that much, but it was better than the first time. The boy didn’t much care for it, which of course disappointed hubby because he loves that movie. We also watched Thor: Tales of Asgard, an odd little cartoon movie. For Family Movie Night we ended up watching Kubo And The Two Strings, which was the movie the boy picked, and we all enjoyed it.

Life

It was a fairly easy going week. Having returned from our short trip on Monday, we decided to take a day to rest and recharge, but that ended up extending throughout most of the week. I did spend some time weeding the garden, which was in desperate need of the attention, but due to lots of rain, I didn’t get it all done. I did spend some time over the weekend trying to get our laundry room cleaned and organized. I got the job well over half done, but still have some work to do with it.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I will be continuing to read the rest of the Death Note series. With luck I will be able to get to the end of the series by the end of the week, but it all depends on how much reading time I set aside.

I also would like to start reading Dark Horse. I have enjoyed nearly all the books I have read by B.J. Daniels, but it has been a while since I have read any, so I’m looking forward to starting this latest of series by her.

Watching

I’ll be working on the final season of The Golden Girls. I don’t want to finish this series up, because I love it so much, but doing so will also allow me to watch other things. Beyond that, I’m not sure what else I will be watching this week.

Life

The boy has science camp this week, which he’s super excited about – as am I, because it gets him out of the house for a few hours each day. Hubby also returns back to work after having the last two weeks off for vacation, so I will have the house all to myself for quite a bit of it. I do have quite a bit of work around the house that I want to do. Our garage sale was put off due to rain, but even so, I’m eager to go through the house again and make sure I didn’t miss anything in my initial purging. Also, we want to reorganize a few other rooms, which means the perfect opportunity to go through things. I also need to make room for a new book case or two, which hubby will only buy me once I prove we have room for them. If the weather is good, I will also need to weed the garden as it’s overflowing with weeds thanks to all the rain we have been getting.

What I did Last Week

Read

Though I did some reading last week, I sadly didn’t finish anything.

Watched

Much like my reading, I didn’t watch much last week either. We did watch the new Power Rangers movie for Bad Movie Monday. It was pretty boring and overall we didn’t like it. I also watched Queen of Katwe on Netflix. Despite not liking or understanding chess, I really enjoyed this movie. Finally I binge watched The Guild on Thursday, in honor of the tenth anniversary of the first episode of the series being uploaded. It was great to revisit this series after all these years.

Life

What a crazy week. I thought I could take it easy but boy was I wrong. I was doing stuff from the time I woke up until I was too tired to keep going. Then when I thought I couldn’t get any busier, I had several orders for dog treats come in and I had to rush through them because we were going away for the weekend. We spent the weekend in Sudbury, visiting the science center, going shopping and just enjoyed a few days away from the home.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I want to finish reading Wonder Womanby George Perez Omnibus Vol. 1 this week. I’m currently about half way through this one and really enjoying it. After this, I’m not quite sure what I will read.

Watching

Since I didn’t get around to watching any of The Golden Girls last week, I’ll be working on season 6 this week. Outside of that I don’t really have solid plans.

Life

Oh, I really hope it will be an easy week this time around because I need a break.

What I did Last Week

Read

I did a pretty good reading last week, even though I didn’t love any of the books that I read. First up I read The Giving Tree, Where The Sidewalk Ends and A Light In The Attic. I had read these books years ago and enjoyed them, so figured it was time to reread them. I liked them but not as much as when I had read them as kid.

Then I read Elephantoms. Another book I had read a bit over ten years ago and had the craving to read it again. This one was also not as good as the first time I read it. I’m not sure if I will review this one or not.

Next up, was Stuart Little. I’ve seen the movie before, but as far as I can remember I’ve never read the book. I have to say, this book was weird. I may or may not review this one.

Lastly, I read Riders. I didn’t love this one, but I also didn’t hate it. I feel like the story had so much potential but the delivery of the story was what held it back the most. I’ll be posting a full review of this book in the coming weeks.

Watched

For Bad Movie Monday we watched the new Fantastic Four, and it was boring and quite bad…so a perfect choice for the day. Then I watched plenty of The Golden Girls, finishing up season four and all of season five. For Family Movie Night we watched E.T. The Extra-terrestrial, which was good but certainly not as good as when it first came out. The boy thought it was okay, and I admit it did feel slow at times. Finally, I watched Wolf Children which was fairly good.

Life

It was a pretty busy week. I had a lot of things to get done and I’m happy to say I got most of them done. We spent a day clearing out our old half rotten shed, so that the next day it could be torn down. A day was dedicated to finishing rearranging our bedroom, which involved a lot of work, including putting together a new shelf to house all my Star Wars books. We also rearranged our remaining shed, making room for all the stuff from the now torn down shed in it, and also made a dump run. I spend three days cooking meat and some vegetables for the dog, so now she has several months worth of home made dog food. I know there were other things that I did over the course of the week, but it would get tedious to list them all. Let’s just say it was very busy and productive.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I don’t have a solid reading plan for the week. I have a stack of books that I want to get through before the end of the month, so I’ll end up picking something from that and seeing how much I can read. This will be a mood reading kind of week.

Watching

Well, clearly I will be watching season six of The Golden Girls. I don’t know what I will watch beyond that, because there are so many shows and movies and other things I want to watch, it just all depends on how much time I dedicate to staring at a screen.

Life

I still have quite a bit to do this week, basically things left over from last week, so it will likely be fairly busy again. Weather permitting we will likely have our garage sale this coming weekend, which will hopefully be successful, because I really don’t want to keep this stuff in the house much longer.

What I did Last Week

Read

I had another decent reading week last week. First up, I read Fairest. This was a quick and enjoyable book about the villain from The Lunar Chronicles series. I really enjoyed seeing her progress along the way to become more and more the person I recognize from the rest of the series. I’ll be posting a full review of this book in a few weeks.

Next, I read Erased Volume 2. This was another great manga. I’m really looking forward to seeing where this series goes. I’ll be posting a full review of this book in a few weeks.

Then I read Provence To Die For, one of the Murder She Wrote novels. This one didn’t appeal to me as much as some of the previous ones, but I still enjoyed it in it’s own way. I likely won’t review this one, as I find it hard to review books from this series.

Lastly, I read The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. I had started this one a while back but only got about a chapter in. I quick enjoyed this book, which was a mix of an autobiography and a science text book. I’m undecided as to whether I will review this one or not, as I tend not to review non-fiction.

Watched

We finally got around to doing Bad Movie Monday again and last week we watched Earth vs. Asteroid. This movie was quite bad and proves our theory that pretty much any movie that has “vs.” in the title is bound to be bad. Then we watching Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2 and Despicable Me 3. We enjoyed all these, even having seen the first two multiple times. We also watched Wonder Woman, which was my third viewing, my son’s second and hubby’s first. We all really enjoyed this movie and are looking forward to owning it in the future so we can watch it whenever we want. I also watched a whole lot of episodes of The Golden Girls. I’m nearly done with season four.

Life

The week wasn’t busy. I got the last bit of stuff organized for our future garage sale, now we just need to pick a weekend to do it. We ended up going to the city over the weekend to do some necessary shopping, looked at some vehicles (since hubby’s truck is on it’s last legs), and saw two movies while we were there.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I don’t have any solid reading plans this week because it’s going to be a decently busy week, so not sure how much reading time I will have.

Watching

I have about four episodes of season four of The Golden Girls to get through, then I will be starting season five. I also should really watch some of the stuff on our PVR if I can.

Life

It’s going to be busy. I don’t have any solid plans outside of getting as much done from a very long to-do list as I can. If the weather looks good for the weekend, we may have our garage sale then.

What I did Last Week

Read

First up, I finished my reread of Rhapsody: Child of Blood. I really enjoyed this one alot, and even though I had read it before, I had forgotten 99% of the story, so it was like reading it for the first time again. You can find my review of this book here.

Next I ended up reading Volumes 4 to 8 of A Bride’s Story. I liked some of these more than others, but overall I still really enjoy this series and cannot wait to read the next volume coming out later this year.

Then I read The Last Olympian. I struggled with this one a bit because I’ve lost interest in the series but didn’t want to leave it at one book, the final book at that, as being unread. I’ll probably review this one eventually, but I’m not eager to do so.

Just when I thought I was done reading for the week, last night I ended up reading Xena: Warrior Princess The Huntress And The Sphinx. This one was okay. I’ve read better Xena books, and I’ve also read worse ones. I’ll be posting a full review of this one in a few weeks.

Eight books in one week. Not too shabby.

Watched

Despite my plan to watch some of the stuff I have on my PVR and some anime, I did no such thing. In fact, I barely watched anything last week. I did watch a few episodes of Phineas & Ferb with my son, we are now into season 3 of the show. For family movie night we ended up watching Crocodile Dundee, a movie the hubby and I haven’t watched in a few years. It was the boys first time seeing it and he liked it overall, but found some parts to be boring.

Life

So much for my take it easy and do nothing week. I ended up doing a bunch of baking because a number of orders came through. Then I sorted through the vast majority of stuff we have set aside for a garage sale, took an inventory, worked out pricing and all that fun stuff. In doing that I made quite a mess of half the house, so I then did a thorough cleaning of the house. We did manage to sell a few of the bigger items this week, advertising them on a local sale site, which cleaned up a nice amount of room. We also started the task of rearranging our bedroom, I don’t know why we did this, but it’s happening. I’ve also been spending a good chunk of time in the garden, tending to the steadily growing plants, weeding and just enjoying the nice weather.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I don’t really know what I will be reading this week. I need to look at my TBR pile and see what jumps out at me.

Watching

I will once again try to watch things that are on the PVR in order to clear out some space on it. I also would really like to start to watch at least one anime series this week, though I have yet to decide which series I will watch.

Life

I have some more prep work to do for our garage sale, which will hopefully happen sometime in the next two weeks. Then we need to finish rearranging our bedroom, put together another bookshelf, fill it with books and add the old shelf to the garage sale pile. I’m sure there is more than needs to get done, but that’s the immediate concerns.

What I did Last Week

Read

Didn’t read much last week. I did get around to reading A Bride’s Story Vol 2 & 3, which I really enjoyed, though I didn’t enjoyed Volume 3 as much as the previous ones. I have decided to review these books as a series, so the review will come along once I have read them all.

Watched

The boy and I continued to watch Phineas & Ferb and are nearly done with the second season. I haven’t watched all the episodes with him, but quite a few of them I have watched, especially when he tells me it’s one we haven’t seen before. On netflix I watched the anime series Silver Spoon, which is about students attending an agricultural high school. This series was weird at times but overall I enjoyed it, I just wish there were more seasons to it because it was over far too quickly. We also watched Read Or Die together, because my husband said something one day that made me think of this movie (although it’s actually three episodes) and when I tried to explain the connection they showed interest in watching it. In the end they thought it was okay, but I enjoyed watched it again quite a bit. For Family Movie Night we ended up watching Balto 3: Wings of Change, which is what the boy choose to watch. This one was good but not quite as good as the first movie. Lastly, we ended up watching Okja, which was a strange yet good movie.

Life

I was so much more busy that I was expecting last week. I had some baking orders, but then even more came in, so I spent quite a bit of time in the kitchen. On top of this I was regularly in the garden making sure it was weeded and watered often. My son and I also played a ton of board games between the itm ehe got home from school and when hubby got home from work, and then we often played more games after dinner. Over the week we played Touche, The Game of Life, Barrel of Monkeys, Monopoly and Star Wars: Jedi Unleashed. I also started to organize things that I had purged a few months ago, but were simply piled up in our laundry room to get ready for a garage sale which I hope to have in a couple of weeks. It will be really nice to have all that space back and make some money in the process.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I will be continuing with Rhapsody: Child of Blood. I’m about half way through with my reread of this one and really enjoying it. Hoping to have it done in the next couple of days.

After this I’m not sure what I will read, it all depends on if I get the books I recently ordered this week or not.

Watching

I don’t really have any solid plan for the week. I have a few things on the PVR that I should watch, as well as some anime that I really want to get around to as well.

Life

I’m hoping to take it easy this week. Last week was really busy, and I need a relaxing week to recharge.
