2014 Reading Challenges

Don’t you just love a good reading challenge? I know I do. And here is where I will keep track of the progress on all the year-long challenges I am participating this year.

The GoodReads reading challenge is the first one. Last year I set a goal of 50 book and read over 100. This year I plan to read 100 books this year and perhaps I can even surpass that goal by a good amount.

Progress:
90/100 books

This challenge is to help me tackle my growing TBR Pile of older books. I had already set a goal at the beginning of the year to stop ignoring those books and read them already but officially participating in this challenge should give me that extra push that I need. I set my level at Married With Children which is 50+ books.

Progress:
63/50 books

2014 A-Z Book Title Challenge

This challenge is quite simple. Reading 26 books which titles begin with the letters of the alphabet. The biggest part of this challenge will be finding book titles that start with the letter X or Z, though the challenge does allow you to use titles that have either of those letters anywhere in the title if needed.

This challenge will allow me to take more time to enjoy audio books, something that I only started doing last year. For this challenge I have decided to go with Level 2 Going Steady – listen to 12 audio books.

Progress:
14/12 books

This challenge will ensure that I keep up with all my review books. For this challenge I have decided to go with the Journeyman Level – 11-20 books.

Progress:
22/20 books

This challenge is will keep me going to the library for more books instead of rushing off to buy them. For this challenge I am doing the Chapter Book Level – read 12 library books.

Progress:
11/12 books

My biggest problem with reading so many books if that I keep starting new series and rarely actually finish any of the ones I currently have going. This challenge will force me to stop doing that and finish series that have remained unfinished for quite some time. For this challenge I am going with Level 3 – Complete 3 or more series. It sounds easy enough but I know this will be one of the harder challenges to follow through on.

Progress:
10/3 series
Healer Trilogy (3 books)
The Kindrily Trilogy (3 books)
Daughter of Smoke & Bone Trilogy (3 books)
Cardwell Ranch Series (4 books)
The Inheritance Trilogy (3 books)
The McCabe Trilogy (3 books)
Jedi Academy (2 books)
The Boleyn Trilogy (3 books)
Beartooth, Montana Series (6 books)
The Maze Runner Trilogy (3 books)

This challenge is all about reading a book and then watching it’s movie adaptation. There are quite a few book and movie adaptations that I want to read and watch this year, so this challenge will help me do just that. For this challenge I am going with the level Movie Aficionado, read 12 books and watch their movies.

Progress:
11/12 books and movies

This challenge is all about reading e-books. Whether it’s on a Kindle, Nook or your computer, it counts. I have quite a number of unread books on my Kindle and this challenge will help me reduce that number. For this challenge I am going with Level 2 CD – 10 ebooks.

Progress:
3/10 books
