What I did Last Week

Read

I had hoped to do a bunch of reading last week, but alas, it did not happen. I tried, I really did, but honestly every time I sat down to read my mother would want to talk. Reading with family visiting is an exercise in futility.

Watched

Didn’t really watch much last week, as the TV was being controlled by visiting family and they watch the stupidest shows ever.

Life

Soccer started this week for the boy, so that kept me busy in the evenings. Then the parents arrived for a visit and it’s been hectic and annoying every since. I’ve been playing as much World of Warcraft as I can, which keeps me too busy to truly visit with them, but that leaves the boy open to take advantage of visiting grandparents.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I likely won’t get to do any reading until Wednesday, as that’s when the family leaves, but after that, I will be focusing on finishing Cress. I really, really want to finish this one to see what happens in the second half.

Watching

No real plans this week. I will probably just watch whatever I feel like on any given day.

Life

I don’t have any solid plans for this week. I’m stuck with the family until Wednesday and then I’m free to do whatever I wish after that. Soccer will still occupy three nights of the week. I’m hoping to do some stuff in the garden soon, mostly just a bit of weeding and prepping the beds for planting, but a lot of that will depend on the weather.

What I did Last Week

Read

It wasn’t the best week for reading. I ended up adding two books to the dreaded DNF pile. I tried to finish Lord of The Flies, but I just couldn’t be bothered with the second half of the book, which is disappointing because that was the one book that stuck with me from high school. Then, I started The Devil Wears Prada, made it about half way and had no desire to keep going.

Watched

I didn’t watch much last week. I watched three or four episodes of The Golden Girls. As far as movies go, I ended up watching Ocean Waves, which was alright, but not as good as I was hoping for.

Life

I played far too much World of Warcraft last week. Honestly, beyond that I did pretty much nothing because almost all of my waking hours were spent playing the game.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I started Cress on the weekend. I am a little but further than quarter of the way through it and enjoying it quite a bit so far. My plan is to focus on finishing this one over this week.

Watching

I don’t have any plans to watch anything specific this week. I will likely watch more of The Golden Girls and hopefully get around to watching some things on the PVR so I can delete them.

Life

The boy starts soccer this week, so my week will be full of games. On top of that, hubby is away hiking, returning at the end of the week, just in time for my parents to arrive for a week long visit. So, I will be once again cleaning the house unnecessarily just to make the visitors happy and give the illusion of a perfect life and home. Of course, I will also be playing World of Warcraft.

What I did Last Week

Read

I got a couple books read last week. First up I read Moving Target: A Princess Leia Adventure. This was a quick and fairly enjoyable read, though one or two things slightly bothered me. I’ll be posting a full review of this book in the coming weeks.

Then I read Ghosts. This is a book I had wanted to read for a while now, and bought at my sons school’s book fair, since he wants to read it too. I really liked this one and I’m looking forward to hearing my sons opinion of it once he reads it.

Watched

I didn’t watch too much last week. I did get through a couple of episodes of the fourth season of The Golden Girls. Other than that, I can’t really remember anything that I watched. Once again we skipped Family Movie Night, because we weren’t home for it.

Life

Life was sort of boring. I played lots of World of Warcraft. On the weekend we went to the city to do some necessary shopping. Ironically enough, we forgot to buy the most important thing while we were there, which was soccer cleats for the boy.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I started Lord of The Flies last week and got about half way through it. I plan to finish reading it this week. I read this one many years ago in high school, but I’ve wanted to reread it since and this is my opportunity to do so. It’s okay so far, but I’m not feeling the strong attachment to the story that I felt reading it the first time, who knows if the second half will change that or not.

Watching

I have a number of shows stacking up on the PVR, so I plan to watch and delete several of those this week. I might watch some shows I want to watch that are on Netflix as well, if I have time.

Life

No real plans this week. I will probably lose many hours to playing World of Warcraft, but that’s okay, because I’m enjoying the game. I also need to start working things out for a yard sale we will be having in a few weeks, which will clear up lots of space in the house and allow me to finish the big purge I started at the beginning of the year – it’s been on hold the last two months since I have no place to store anything we want to get rid of at the moment.

April 2017 Wrap Up

With May here, it’s time to take a moment to look back at all the things I accomplished in April. In total I read fifteen books in April, which is fantastic.

So what did I read in April?

  • Warcraft Legends Volume 1 by Richard A Knaak
  • Warcraft Legends Volume 2 by Richard A Knaak
  • Murder In A Minor Key by Jessica Fletcher
  • The Battle of The Labyrinth by Rick Riordan
  • The Thousand Dollar Tan Line by Rob Thomas
  • Saga Volume 1
  • Saga Volume 2
  • Saga Volume 3
  • Saga Volume 4
  • Saga Volume 5
  • Saga Volume 6
  • Saga Volume 7
  • .hack// Legend of The Twilight, Vol. 1
  • .hack// Legend of The Twilight, Vol. 2
  • .hack// Legend of The Twilight, Vol. 3

April was such a weird month. The weather was one of those things that just couldn’t make up it’s mind. For the most part, we were having gorgeous spring weather, some days even almost felt like spring. Then on Easter weekend we got hit by a couple inches of snow. Then the last week of April saw a huge winter storm hit most of Northern Ontario, which effectively shut it down for two days – though the roads somehow remained open despite everything else being closed. This storm also screwed over my plans to go see Your Name, since it hit the day I was supposed to go to the city to see the movie, and it was only in theaters for one day, so needless to say I was in a very annoyed mood that day. Probably didn’t help that the in-laws also came up at that time, so I had to deal with them, really bad weather and not get to see the movie.

April also saw me return to playing World of Warcraft. I hadn’t played in nearly four years, but I really wanted to check out the latest expansion, Legion, because it looked so darn good. I have really been enjoying my time playing the game again, though it does tend to eat up most of my waking hours.

I did watch a bunch of movies and TV shows over the course of the month as well, however, I will admit, I don’t feel like looking over my previous posts in order to see what all they were and list them here. If you want to know all that I watched, check out my Monday Progress Report posts and you will find it all there. So, that was my month. Hoping that May will be good.

What I did Last Week

Read

I read a lot last week. Mostly it was thanks to the 24 hour read-a-thon on Saturday, otherwise, I might not have finished a single book. First up, I finally finished The Battle of The Labyrinth. This one wasn’t as strong as the previous books in the series. I’ll be posting a full review in the coming weeks.

Then I read The Thousand Dollar Tan Line. Having watched the entire Veronica Mars series and movie last year, it was nice to revisit it with this book. I certainly enjoyed this book, though not as much as if it had have been an episode or movie, but still good. I’ll be posting a full review in the coming weeks.

Next up I read all seven volumes of Saga. This graphic novel series is so damn good, I was kicking myself for not starting it sooner, yet glad I waited because it meant I have seven volumes to chain read. I’ll be posting a full review in the coming weeks.

Finally, I read the three volumes of .hack// Legend of The Twilight. This short manga series was good, but considering I have never played any of the games, watched any of the series or read any of the other manga’s I definitely felt like I was missing something in the story. I’ll be posting a full review in the coming weeks.

Watched

I didn’t really watch much this week. I honestly can’t even think of a time when I have the TV on. We even skipped family movie night – because of the read-a-thon.

Life

Last week was, in my opinion, a big steaming pile of shit. The in-laws came for a visit, which I was expecting. However, I wasn’t expecting a big winter storm to hit and essentially shut down most of Northern Ontario for two whole days. Schools were closed, businesses were closed, thought he highways remained open despite poor conditions. This of course also meant I wasn’t able to go to the city to see Your Name, which really irked me. So I was stuck in the house, with the in-laws, the boy and the husband, and for the most part, I hide in the computer room and played World of Warcraft to help keep my annoyance and anger in check. Due to Your Name being in theater for only one day, I sadly couldn’t go see it some other day, so now I’m stuck waiting until it hits DVD later this year. Really the only upside was when the in-laws left and the storm finally subsided. Well, the read-a-thon on Saturday was pretty awesome as well, since it gave me the kick in the pants that I needed to get a bunch of reading done.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I’ll be reading some of The Complete Western Collection of Elmore Leonard. I started this short story collection on Saturday and got five of the thirty stories read. So I’ll be reading a few this week, and likely the next couple of weeks, to slowly finish it off.

I also plan on starting Cress. I’ve been dying to continue on with this series, but wanted to wait until I knew I had time to fully devote to reading it and not be distracted by things to enjoy this one.

Watching

No real plans for TV or movies this week. Might watch some things on the PVR, might not, only time will tell.

Life

No plans on this front either. Just going to see what the week holds for me.

What I did Last Week

Read

Another week has passed with very little reading done. I did get about one hundred pages read in The Battle For The Labyrinth, but that only puts me about half way through the book.

Watched

I didn’t watch much this week. I did get in the latest episode of My 600lb Life and I also watched the first episode of the new season of The Last Alaskans. For Family Movie Night we ended up watching Spirited Away. We’ve seen this movie a number of times but it’s one of those movies you can watch time and again, and it’s always a great experience.

Life

It was a semi-busy week. We spend a few days cleaning the house in preparation for the in-laws visiting this coming week. Other than that, my week my mostly spend playing World of Warcraft. I finally got to the point where I can raid and now I’m really loving it. I live to raid in games like this, so I’m finally in the zone.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

No real reading plans this week. Will see how much reading I get done.

Watching

I’ll be heading to the city midweek to see Your Name in the theater. I’m super excited to see this movie since it looks so good. Outside of that, I’m not sure what I will be watching this week.

Life

Well, the in-laws are coming up to visit at some point this week, so I don’t really have any plans. Hopefully the visit will go quickly and smoothly. I will also be putting in a day of travel and shopping midweek, which will in turn play into seeing Your Name. This trip is well timed as it happens during the in-law visit.

What I did Last Week

Read

I didn’t read anything in full last week. I did start two books but didn’t get very far in them. I am less than fifty pages into Through Stone And Sea, and honestly, I’m very bored already. This one will be hard to finish. I also started The Battle of The Labyrinth, but only made it about fifty or so pages in, but so far I’m enjoying it.

Watched

I watched the entire second season of The Last Alaskans, which was short but good. I also watched a few episodes of My 600lb Life. For Family Movie Night we ended up watching Daredevil. I honestly don’t remember that movie being so long and boring.

Life

Life was crazy last week The first half was spent cooking and making dog food, a supply which should last several months. The second half of the week I ended up getting a nasty cold. This is turn led me to play far too many hours of World of Warcraft, but I enjoyed the game and have made a ton of progress.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I’ll be working through the rest of The Battle of The Labyrinth this week. I should get it done in a day or two if I can find reading time, and if this cold ends, I just can’t read when I’m sick.

After that, I’ll probably be working my way through Saga. I started the first volume last week, and nearly finished it, but never did. It’s really good and I’m looking forward to finishing it.

Watching

Not too sure what I’ll be watching this week.

Life

The house needs a good cleaning because the in-laws are coming up soon, so I’ll be doing that. Otherwise, I have no real plans.
