What I did Last Week

Read

I finally finished Cress! It only took a month but I finally got through it and man was it good. Reading the second half, I was kicking myself for not getting to it sooner. I’ll be posting a full review of this one soon.

Next I read Your Name: A Light Novel. This was really good, although admittedly not as good as the movie. I am not sure if I will post a review of this one or not.

Lastly, I read Happiness Like Water. This collection of short stories was so good, I read it all in one sitting. I’ll be posting a full review of this book soon.

Watched

Well I once again caught up on a few shows on TV and the PVR, including Deadliest Catch, River Monsters and The Last Alaskans. On the weekend the boy and I went to the city to go see Cars 3, which was really good. We also decided to watch Wonder Woman while we were there, and the boy loved it, and I enjoyed it more than when I saw it the first time.

Life

I didn’t do much last week. It rained every day so wasn’t able to do any gardening, sadly.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I haven’t quite figured out what I will be reading this week.

Watching

I don’t have any solid plans for this either.

Life

It’s supposed to rain all week again, but I’m really hoping that I can plant the garden this week. I’m already behind on getting things planted and with our short growing season I need to get it done real soon. The boy also has soccer finals this week. His team is current in first place and they just need to win two games to get the gold.

What I did Last Week

Read

First up I read Wishful Drinking. This was a very interesting read and gave a look into Carrie Fisher’s life. It’s got humor, shocking reveals and all around shows off Carrie in a light that many may not have seen. It was a little sad to read it knowing that she is gone, but I’m glad that I did. Because this is a biography, I will not be posting a review of it.

Then I read Shockaholic. This is Carrie Fisher’s second biography and I didn’t enjoy it as much as Wishful Drinking. A lot of it is similar to the first book and then there are some chapters that seem so random I didn’t feel like they added anything – like the Michael Jackson chapter. Still glad I read it even though it wasn’t a huge attention grabber. I will not be posting a review for this one either.

Finally I read Erased Volume 1. I had bought this book the previous week during my trip to the city and I’m so glad that I did. This was such an amazing book with a rich story line and great art. I cannot wait for the second volume to be out in a couple of weeks. I’ll be posting a full review of this one in the coming weeks.

Watched

While it doesn’t feel like I watched a lot last week, I actually did. I ended up clearing out several things from my PVR including episodes of Deadliest Catch, River Monsters, My 600lb Life and The Last Alaskans. On the weekend we had a Star Wars Rebels marathon, watching most of season 3 because we realized that we never watched the last couple of episodes and figured it would be best to start rewatching the whole season – we came close to watching all of it, but some bad weather prevented us from watching the last few episodes. For Family Movie Night we ended up watching Hero, which was good, but the boy didn’t enjoy it as much as we hoped he would.

Life

I got lots of work done in the garden last week. Hours spent weeding, fixing the border, fixing the fence, replacing one of the raised beds that had rotted. The only thing I didn’t get done was planting because the weather turned to rain and is obviously not ideal conditions for planting. Soccer kept up busy for a few evenings as well, and the boys team continues to win every game, but some of the other teams are definitely making them work for it.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I will finish Cress this week. I have been working on this one for too long, reading other books when I should be finishing this one, so I am not allowing myself to read anything else until it’s done. I really want to see how the second half of the book works out, so I have no reason to not read it.

Watching

We will be finishing up season three of Star Wars Rebels this week. I also want to try to finish up season four of The Golden Girls, I think I’m about half way or so, so it shouldnt’ be too much work to do that. It’s the boys pick for Family Movie Night this week, so I’m not sure what he is picking.

Life

It’s the second last week of soccer for the boy, so between his three regular games and a mini tournament, this will take up a decent amount of time. If the weather is good, and so far it doesn’t look like it will be, I will finally be planting the garden.

What I did Last Week

Read

It wasn’t the best week for reading. I ended up adding two books to the dreaded DNF pile. I tried to finish Lord of The Flies, but I just couldn’t be bothered with the second half of the book, which is disappointing because that was the one book that stuck with me from high school. Then, I started The Devil Wears Prada, made it about half way and had no desire to keep going.

Watched

I didn’t watch much last week. I watched three or four episodes of The Golden Girls. As far as movies go, I ended up watching Ocean Waves, which was alright, but not as good as I was hoping for.

Life

I played far too much World of Warcraft last week. Honestly, beyond that I did pretty much nothing because almost all of my waking hours were spent playing the game.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I started Cress on the weekend. I am a little but further than quarter of the way through it and enjoying it quite a bit so far. My plan is to focus on finishing this one over this week.

Watching

I don’t have any plans to watch anything specific this week. I will likely watch more of The Golden Girls and hopefully get around to watching some things on the PVR so I can delete them.

Life

The boy starts soccer this week, so my week will be full of games. On top of that, hubby is away hiking, returning at the end of the week, just in time for my parents to arrive for a week long visit. So, I will be once again cleaning the house unnecessarily just to make the visitors happy and give the illusion of a perfect life and home. Of course, I will also be playing World of Warcraft.

What I did Last Week

Read

I got a couple books read last week. First up I read Moving Target: A Princess Leia Adventure. This was a quick and fairly enjoyable read, though one or two things slightly bothered me. I’ll be posting a full review of this book in the coming weeks.

Then I read Ghosts. This is a book I had wanted to read for a while now, and bought at my sons school’s book fair, since he wants to read it too. I really liked this one and I’m looking forward to hearing my sons opinion of it once he reads it.

Watched

I didn’t watch too much last week. I did get through a couple of episodes of the fourth season of The Golden Girls. Other than that, I can’t really remember anything that I watched. Once again we skipped Family Movie Night, because we weren’t home for it.

Life

Life was sort of boring. I played lots of World of Warcraft. On the weekend we went to the city to do some necessary shopping. Ironically enough, we forgot to buy the most important thing while we were there, which was soccer cleats for the boy.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I started Lord of The Flies last week and got about half way through it. I plan to finish reading it this week. I read this one many years ago in high school, but I’ve wanted to reread it since and this is my opportunity to do so. It’s okay so far, but I’m not feeling the strong attachment to the story that I felt reading it the first time, who knows if the second half will change that or not.

Watching

I have a number of shows stacking up on the PVR, so I plan to watch and delete several of those this week. I might watch some shows I want to watch that are on Netflix as well, if I have time.

Life

No real plans this week. I will probably lose many hours to playing World of Warcraft, but that’s okay, because I’m enjoying the game. I also need to start working things out for a yard sale we will be having in a few weeks, which will clear up lots of space in the house and allow me to finish the big purge I started at the beginning of the year – it’s been on hold the last two months since I have no place to store anything we want to get rid of at the moment.

What I did Last Week

Read

Another week has passed with very little reading done. I did get about one hundred pages read in The Battle For The Labyrinth, but that only puts me about half way through the book.

Watched

I didn’t watch much this week. I did get in the latest episode of My 600lb Life and I also watched the first episode of the new season of The Last Alaskans. For Family Movie Night we ended up watching Spirited Away. We’ve seen this movie a number of times but it’s one of those movies you can watch time and again, and it’s always a great experience.

Life

It was a semi-busy week. We spend a few days cleaning the house in preparation for the in-laws visiting this coming week. Other than that, my week my mostly spend playing World of Warcraft. I finally got to the point where I can raid and now I’m really loving it. I live to raid in games like this, so I’m finally in the zone.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

No real reading plans this week. Will see how much reading I get done.

Watching

I’ll be heading to the city midweek to see Your Name in the theater. I’m super excited to see this movie since it looks so good. Outside of that, I’m not sure what I will be watching this week.

Life

Well, the in-laws are coming up to visit at some point this week, so I don’t really have any plans. Hopefully the visit will go quickly and smoothly. I will also be putting in a day of travel and shopping midweek, which will in turn play into seeing Your Name. This trip is well timed as it happens during the in-law visit.

What I did Last Week

Read

I didn’t read anything in full last week. I did start two books but didn’t get very far in them. I am less than fifty pages into Through Stone And Sea, and honestly, I’m very bored already. This one will be hard to finish. I also started The Battle of The Labyrinth, but only made it about fifty or so pages in, but so far I’m enjoying it.

Watched

I watched the entire second season of The Last Alaskans, which was short but good. I also watched a few episodes of My 600lb Life. For Family Movie Night we ended up watching Daredevil. I honestly don’t remember that movie being so long and boring.

Life

Life was crazy last week The first half was spent cooking and making dog food, a supply which should last several months. The second half of the week I ended up getting a nasty cold. This is turn led me to play far too many hours of World of Warcraft, but I enjoyed the game and have made a ton of progress.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I’ll be working through the rest of The Battle of The Labyrinth this week. I should get it done in a day or two if I can find reading time, and if this cold ends, I just can’t read when I’m sick.

After that, I’ll probably be working my way through Saga. I started the first volume last week, and nearly finished it, but never did. It’s really good and I’m looking forward to finishing it.

Watching

Not too sure what I’ll be watching this week.

Life

The house needs a good cleaning because the in-laws are coming up soon, so I’ll be doing that. Otherwise, I have no real plans.

What I did Last Week

Read

I did a decent amount of reading last week, managing to get through three books, though they were all fairly short. First up I read Warcraft: Legends Volume 1. While I enjoyed this, I did find a couple of issues with it. I’ll be posting a full review of this book soon.

Next up Warcraft: Legends Volume 2. Much like the first volume, I enjoyed this book but again found a couple of issues with it.  I’ll be posting a full review of this book soon.

Lastly, I read Murder In Minor Key. While I liked this one, I have to say it was one of my least favorite Murder, She Wrote novels so far. Like the previous novels, I highly doubt I will post a review of this one.

Watched

I didn’t watch much last week. I finally finished the third season of The Golden Girls. For Family Movie Night we ended up watching Wonder Woman, the 2009 animated movie, and we all enjoyed it. Outside of that, I pretty much ignored the TV.

Life

I honestly didn’t do much last week. I did some writing, but not a ton. I am ahead on my word count goal for Camp NaNoWriMo, though I have failed at keeping my word count updated on the site. I did some baking but not too much. I also got sucked into World of Warcraft again. I’ve been wanting to play it for a while now, especially since Legion came out, and I finally broke down and did that, but now it’s eating up a lot of my time playing catch up since I hadn’t played it for four years. Other than that, I spend a bunch of time outside, enjoying the unseasonably warm weather.

What I Plan To Do This Week

Reading

I just started reading Through Stone And Sea. I only got a few pages into this one, but I’m hoping to get it done this week. However, if it’s like the previous book in the series, it may be a bit of a slog to get through.

I also plan on reading Saga this week. I just got these books and I’m dying to read them. I think reading these in between chapters of Through Stone And Sea is my best bet. I may or may not read all seven volumes of Saga this week.

Watching

No real plans for TV or movies this week. I will probably watch stuff based upon my mood or what I happen to find on on a particular day.

Life

I really need to get back to the house purge, so the plan is to get one room done this week. I also need to take a bunch of stuff to donate from the previous round of purging that I did a month or so ago. Writing will also be a priority, because I would like to reach my word count goal for Camp NaNoWriMo early and at the rate I’m going, that will happen. The weather should remain nice this week, so I will have a chance to clean up the yard and maybe even work a bit in the garden to start prepping it for planting next months.
